driving lessons Wigston

Wigston is where a lot of Leicester learners end up taking their test, and it is one of the areas we teach in every week. Acceler8 Driving School runs manual and automatic driving lessons across Wigston, South Wigston, Oadby and the surrounding LE18 and LE2 roads, and we pick up from home, college or work.

We know the Wigston test routes

Wigston test centre covers a mix that catches people out — the Blaby Road and Bull Head Street junctions, the A5199 out towards the city, the residential grids around South Wigston where the give-way markings are faded, and the roundabouts that everyone remembers afterwards. Our learners drive those roads before test day, not for the first time on it. It is the single most common thing that comes up in our reviews: people say they had already driven the route.

Manual or automatic, your choice

We teach both. Manual lessons are in a modern dual-controlled car; automatic lessons.  An automatic license only lets you drive automatics, but it is usually quicker to get and takes a lot of the mental load out of the first few lessons. If you are not sure, book an assessment lesson and we will tell you which one suits you rather than which one is easier to sell.

Who we teach in Wigston

Complete beginners who have never sat in the driver’s seat. Part-trained learners changing instructor because it was not working out. Sixth-formers and students at Wigston College and South Leicestershire College fitting lessons around timetables. Licence holders coming back after years off the road. Parents who have been meaning to do this since before the kids were born.

What it costs

£35 for one hour, £66 for two, £170 for a block of five and £330 for a block of ten. Test day is £110, which includes an hour of driving on the Wigston routes beforehand and the use of our car for the test. Motorway lessons are £80 for two hours. No hidden fees and no charge for picking you up.

How many lessons will you need in Wigston?

The DVSA says most people need about 45 hours of tuition plus 22 hours of private practice. Across our own learners the average is nearer 30 hours, and we have had people pass in 16 to 20. It depends on your age, how often you can get out, and whether there is a car at home to practise in. Book an assessment lesson and we will give you the honest number.
