Speed Limits Outside Schools?
You could fail your driving test if you drive at 20 mph or less!!
What?
But Why?
The sign you see above is an advisory speed limit and not a legal speed limit.
So what is the Advisory speed limits outside schools?
So in this situation advisory speed limit is max 20 mph when the lights are flashing during school times and only if kids are around. If no kids are around you can drive at normal speed of 30 mph if it is safe to do so. We highly advise you to drive at 20 mph if the kids are around, in case they run out in front of the car suddenly, you should be able to stop quickly.
Flashing times of lights are generally between when kids starts school in the morning 8am – 9.30am and when they finish in the afternoon 2.30 pm – 3.30pm.
